The Director of Merchandise Planning is the data driven strategist for driving sales, margin, and turn across all channels and brands at Guitar Center Inc. A leader who trains and inspires a team which flows inventory with precision to meet demand and promotional events. Drives localized assortments for stores. Prioritizes Ecommerce inventory flow to ensure customer satisfaction. Uses data to collaborate with merchandising partners on driving growth by chasing trends, mitigating losses and finding white space.

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Entrepreneurial, analytical business owner which is results oriented. A great coach that will inspire the team to be customer centric and have a growth mind set. The Director will aggressively train and coach high potentials to build the leaders of the future
  • Builder of long- and short-term Omni channel category financial plans. The Director of Planning will utilize sales trends, market research, CRM data and merchant vision to aggressively chase growth and mitigate downtrends.
  • The Director of Planning is the steward of the company's inventory to drive sales efficiently in line with our cash flow objectives. Monitors the quality and age of inventory and makes recommendations for pricing actions/returns and other digital tactics to liquidate slow aging inventory.
  • Collaboratively owns the Omni-channel sales, receipts and gross margin with the Category Director.
  • Conducts assortment rationalization to meet customer focused service level agreements.
  • Collaborates with merchants to build localized assortments and digital collections by trend/demographic/lifestyle/market growth.
  • Collaborates with logistics to ensure cost effective quick delivery of goods to distribution centers, stores, and from dc's to customer.
  • The DMP will build relationships with key vendor partners to build collaborative customer growth strategies, effective supply plans and ensure operations between the two companies are running smoothly.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

To join our band, you'll need the following experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Business, Merchandising/ Supply Chain OR 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • 6 years of relevant work experience
  • 5 years of experience leading teams.

Pay Rate: $145,000.00 - $170,000.00 annually depending on background and experience. This position is eligible to participate in the Guitar Center Company bonus program based on Company performance.
