Position Summary: Merchandise Operations Analyst

The Merchandise Operations Analyst plays a crucial role in managing and optimizing inventory levels to ensure the company maintains the right amount of stock to meet customer demand while minimizing costs.   This includes performing analytical and operational tasks to evaluate inventory effectiveness and supports moving inventory throughout the supply chain network to optimize performance.   In addition, it offers operational support to provide systems expertise to perform duties around inventory monitoring, reporting, demand planning, replenishment, and order management.

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Leadership and People Skills:
  • Works collaboratively with 2-5 support team members, providing expertise to assist fellow team members with training, business process, creating new MS Office reports and tools, coaching, problem solving techniques, and escalating issues for resolution.
  • Manage and maintain strong merchant and planning relationships.

Merchandising Support & Aged Inventory Analysis

  • Provide Category Management and Inventory Planning teams with system and process support for Forecasting, Replenishment, and Ordering functions in SO99+.
  • Support Item Planning, Assortment Planning, and Store Ranging/Clustering functions (Board), tracking tools and reports.
  • Lead the analysis and consolidation of feedback of aged and slow-moving inventory to identify obsolescence risks across categories by item.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, and Inventory teams to recommend obsolescence reserve levels, enabling accurate financial forecasting and supporting financial entries on a quarterly basis.
  • Develop and maintain reporting tools and dashboards that monitor inventory aging trends and highlight potential financial exposure.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Utilizes MS Office tools to create and build tools, reports, and queries to aid in store assortment changes, replenishment, product and vendor forecasts, purchase orders, and product status.
  • Provides support to Inventory management systems and ad hoc reporting.
  • Utilizes Microstrategy, AQT (SQL tool), and MS Office tools to run queries and execute macros or scripts that update databases and reports.
  • Create supportive documentation to explain how reports are built and executed, including any associated processes used to create the report.

System & Process Support

  • Troubleshooting and problem solving to assist users looking to understand the business, functionality of tools, or debug existing issues.
  • Works collaboratively with various teams to address cost revisions to purchase orders and ensure related systems are updated (Cost Update tool).
  • Supports team by assisting in SKU parameter maintenance and ticket creation
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 Collaboration and Communication:

  • Facilitate meeting discussions with category management and planning teams to assist in closing the gaps for any shortfalls or maximizing opportunities.
  • Support with training and business process documentation to assist users in performing their daily duties

To join our band, you'll need the following experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or 3 years of relevant work experience), preferably in Business.
  • 3 years of relevant work experience in inventory management or similar (in addition to degree or years of previous experience).
  • Skilled proficiency modeling and building complex reports in Excel and Access.
  • Skilled proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word and Outlook.
  • Intermediate proficiency using Business Intelligence tools.
  • Fundamental awareness of mining and manipulating large amounts of data through use of SQL.
  • Experience or familiarity with inventory valuation principles and financial reserve methodology is a plus.

  • Technology Skills: Able to navigate technology systems, equipment, and computer programs needed to fulfill communication, customer service, and business needs & expectations.

Pay Rate: $70,000 - $83,000 / yr depending on background and experience.
